James John Allison                               1854-1929
James John was born on 19 June 1854, the eldest son of William Henry Allison and Margaret Clay, at Cleadon Hall, County Durham. He married Edith Hope Napier on 11 April 1882, but she died on 24 December of that same year. He married Edith Bryham Davidson on 18 September 1884. James was educated at King's School, Canterbury. He was a J.P. of County Durham, Major and Hon. Lt. Col. 3rd Bn. Durham Light Infantry, was Mayor of Sunderland.
