James Allison                 1796-1865
James was born on 17 January 1796, the son of John Allison and Ann Taylor, in Monkwearmouth, County Durham. He comes from an old prominent North Side family and was engaged in shipbuilding from 1818 to 1833. Robert Thompson (1797-1860) served his apprenticeship at the Allison yard.
